[HTT18-P02] Development of high-frequency electromagnetic hammer as a seismic source

We have developed an electromagnetic hammer as a seismic source for seismic surveys of very shallow subsurface and inspection of civil engineering structures. The source which is an electromagnetically driven solenoid hammer can generate high frequency seismic waves of more than 1 KHz. It consists of a high voltage generator and a solenoid hammer driven by it. It is a small seismic source whose external dimension of 80x90x350mm, and a weight of 5.1kg. It can be operated every 4 to 5 seconds. We have demonstrated its effectiveness through its applications to seismic surveys and inspections of very shallow subsurface and concrete structures.
