AGU is committed to working with the Earth, space, and environmental science community to support progress towards Open Science. We believe this requires a global effort to make data and scientific advancement more accessible, interoperable, and impactful.

Open Science builds on the work of our broad community around improving data and software management, preservation, sharing, and citation. Although we may have some differences across the many disciplines in our community, the basic goals are the same.

Through new and existing partnerships, we are working on increasing Open Science measures in scientific communication, publication, data and software preservation, and citation. We are encouraging universities, government agencies, and organizations to adopt policies that support FAIR data and software and provide rewards and incentives to researchers who adopt Open Science practices.

This year we have announced a new Open Science Recognition Prize for outstanding work in advancing Open Science related to Earth and space science and its impact globally.

AGU is excited to share our work around Open Science and invite those interested to participate.
