Currently, there is an urgent need to establish a system for archiving and publishing academic data at universities. However, data storage environments may not always be equipped to handle the diverse types and capacities of academic data, necessitating various innovative solutions. Since FY2021, a collaborative team at Nagoya University; the Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE), Libraries, the Information Technology Center, and the Information Strategy Office, has been studied in 1) archiving scientific data using cold storage (optical disk), and 2) developing metadata for scientific data. For the former, high-capacity optical disks have been used as long-term storage devices for data preservation. In the latter, with IUGONET's cooperation, the general-purpose metadata schema has been updated, metadata assigned, and DOIs minted for scientific data. Additionally, we have identified necessary functions required by Nagoya University and other academic institutions for the future. In this presentation, we report on these initiatives and deliberate on future directions in collaboration with other universities and institutions.
