Analytical and geophysical logging data of core samples obtained during the International Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) by the deep Earth exploration vessel Chikyu (hereafter referred to as "Chikyu") operated by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (hereafter referred to as "JAMSTEC") are available to domestic and international researchers through the data publication website SIO7 (https://www.jamstec.go.jp/sio7/), which is provided to domestic and international researchers. The "sio7" site has accumulated 15 years of data acquired since the 2007 research cruise when the Chikyu began its international activities. It includes core geophysical measurement, XCT scan image, stratigraphic data and well logging data. However, the “sio7” site does not have database functions such as map display, data correlation and search. It is insufficient for an internationally used data reference site. Due to the aging of the system and the obsolescence of its operational functions, migration to a new system was considered. We aimed to provide the same level, display, and management functions such as data retrieval as compared to other databases published under the umbrella of the IODP Science Framework. A conceptual design and prototype of the database were developed in the first half of FY2021. Subsequently, based on the conceptual design and prototype development, an operational version of the database site was constructed and is currently being prepared for open for general public.
