Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark is distributing a video series titled 'Muroto Voice'. In 2020, it released a series depicting daily life changed at COVID-19 through interviews with residents. In 2021, under the COVID-19 situation, we interviewed the inheritors of intangible heritages. This presentation will feature a series of video documentaries titled 'Muroto Voice : Local voice filling in the gap between SDGs and locals'. This is a series that Muroto City and Muroto Geopark have collaborated on since 2022. In addition, we will cover the distribution of commentaries on the Muroto Geopark website by geopark employees, Muroto locals and the younger generation. In Muroto, the SDGs are well recognized. However, there is little understanding of the specific challenges of the SDGs and the urgent need to achieve them till 2030. There are also many citizens who find it difficult to see the issue as too global and link it to their own actions. For this reason, we decided to show the efforts of the residents who are already working on the SDGs as a visual documentary. The purpose of the documentary was to make citizens familiar with the SDGs and to stimulate efforts to achieve the goals. So far we have released documentaries about the five locals: Tosa Bincho charcoal producer, farmer who work as recycler and tour guide, carpenter who support traditional townscapes, teacher who teach Japanese to foreign trainees, and fisherman who conduct fixed-net fishing at Sakihama in Muroto. The website also features information not included in the video and comments from several different positions, so that the video can be interpreted from different perspectives. The content of the video highlights not only direct and indirect efforts to address the SDGs, but also regional challenges. As a geopark activity with the goal of creating sustainable communities, it is necessary to make efforts to promote understanding of the SDGs and consider regional issues beyond that.
