The "Goto Islands (Shimogoto Area) Geopark in Nagasaki Prefecture" was officially recognized as a Japan Geopark in January 2022. Suishodake" on Narushima is listed as one of geosites, and there is no detailed information on it as a the formation locality of Japanese Law Twin Quartz.
Because "Suishodake" has long been famous as the formation locality of Japanese Law Twin Quartz, the local community has been annoyed by mineral collectors from outside the island, and has been searching for ways to preserve and disclose the site.
However, since it is becoming necessary to make it accessible to the public on an ongoing basis, not only as part of Geopark activities but also as an asset of the island, we conducted a detailed field survey.
This presentation will report on the efforts to conserve and open to the public this valuable Japanese Law Twin Quartz formation area, on the basis of field research.
