Keywords:Biomineralization, Compound semiconductors

Here, I will describe the aggregation and crystal growth of compound semiconductors using marine bacteria. The materials under study are sulfides and III-V compounds. My research group is promoting this research with the long-term ultimate goal of establishing an inexpensive and safe recycling system for compound semiconductor materials, and our study is in its early stages. In this talk, I would like to report the results of X-ray diffraction measurement and transmission electron microscopy observation for our biogenic compound semiconductors. This study is conducted in collaboration with Prof. Yoshiko Okamura of Hiroshima University.
