[MIS15-22] Exploring glacial isostatic adjustment associated with climate events in Earth history

Glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) is the solid Earth's response to changes in surface ice and water loading. Analyses of GIA associated with the last deglaciation have provided essential constraints on the history of the ice sheet change and the Earth's mantle viscosity structure. On the other hand, it is not easy to investigate GIA in periods older than the last glacial period because the amount of GIA-related observation is much smaller. We try to explore GIA associated with climate events such as snowball Earth by focusing on the diagnostic sea-level change and to establish some constraints on the ice history and the Earth's mantle viscosity structure at that age. In this presentation, we outline our and previous studies of GIA modeling associated with various climate events in Earth history.
