[MIS23-P07] Polarimetric radar signatures in the senjo-kousuitai occurred in the early morning on 5 July 2022 in midwestern Kochi, Japan
Keywords:polarimetric radar, heavy rain
Localized heavy rain areas in Japan often have a linear shape. Such quasi-stationary line-shape systems are one of the common systems that trigger disasters. Due to the rare reports in other countries, this type of precipitation system is considered a unique precipitation system in Japan. In the early hours of July 5, 2022, a band-shaped precipitation system caused localized heavy rain with 91 mm of hourly rainfall and 300 mm or more of 6 hourly rainfall in the midwestern part of Kochi Prefecture, causing damage such as landslides, and inundation. RHI sector scan observation was carried out using the Kuroshio radar, which is an X-band MP radar of Kochi University. This study presents the features of the internal structure of the precipitation system obtained from the RHI observation.
