[MZZ41-P03] Air Pollution impact on human health of rural population of Haridwar district: A case study for state of Uttarakhand, India

Climate change and air pollution have been a major problem in front of the world in the last couple of decades. The present study has been carried out that rural populations health significantly impacted by the air pollution and climate change. The Uttarakhand state facing significant impacts of climate change in the form of changing weather pattern, melting of glaciers, forest fires, changing precipitation patterns and more extreme weather events. Populations living in rural area have higher susceptibility to air pollution and climate-sensitive health impacts. In developing countries like India with weak health infrastructure, damage due to the worst air quality and climate change are more and they need assistance to prepare and respond. The present study will serve as a preliminary baseline data for policy makers in analyzing vulnerable area in the Uttarakhand state and implementing mitigation plans for tackling the human health problems due to severe air pollution and climate change.
