[O06-P57] Depth measurement of sunspots by the Wilson effect

The Wilson effect is a phenomenon in which the darkest part of a sunspot appears concave when the sunspot approaches the solar periphery. We hypothesized that there is a positive correlation between sunspot size and sunspot depth, and measured sunspot size on the image processing software Makali`i using date from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). We then calculated the sunspot depth due to the Wilson effect in Excel and discussed it. However, there was no expected correlation, and 28 sunspots yielded a depth of approximately 530 +- 380 km.
