[O06-P73] Creation of plastic substitutes using gelatin and agar

*Yuto Kobayashi1, *Hikaru Santo1, *Masaki Nakagawa1 (1. Fukui Prefectural Wakasa High School)

Keywords:plastic, biodegradablility

The purpose of this research is to create a substitute with biodegradable products to solve the problem of plastic waste that is becoming a problem these days. Gelatin and agar xerogels are hard and inexpensive, and fishery is the main industry in Obama where we live, so we thought that we could make effective use of gelatin and agar obtained from fishery waste, so we focused on these substances. We observed changes in gelatin and agar and considered how best to dry it. We also made a film and tried to mold it. In addition, baking soda was added to reduce the weight of the substitute by adding bubbles. As a result, it was found that it was easy to make a film, but it was difficult to mold it because it shrank in the process of drying. Also, as we added baking soda, the bubbles disappeared and we couldn't put bubbles inside.
