[O06-P78] Investigation of “The Lake of Pigeon” in Yoron Island, Kagoshima
Prefecture Based on ICP-AES

At eastern part of Yoron Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, which is made from upheaval coral, there is a puddle. It is located in a limestone area close to a beach. It is about 20cm in diameter, about 30 cm deep and it is called The Lake of Pigeon. Yoron Island has a unique legend and it says that "The Lake will not dry up." This legend has not been scientifically investigated. In July, 2022, we collected water from the lake, water from wells near the lake and local rainwater and analyzed them with ICP-AES. From this data, we tried to make clear the origin of the lake's water. For further research, by collecting water level data of the lake, we will examine how much weather and geographical features are affected to the water of the lake.
