[PEM09-P25] Estimation of geomagnetically induced current (GIC) using the global MHD simulation of the magnetosphere 4
Keywords:geomagnetically induced current (GIC), magnetosphere simulation, geomagnetic disturbance (GMD)
We have compared the geomagnetic field variation data calculated by the simulation with the observation data of Abisko in the high latitude and have shown that there is a good correlation between them. We also studied a method for calculating the geomagnetic field variation at mid- and low latitudes using the cross polar cap potential (CPCP) obtained using the simulation. On the calculation of the electric field variation from the geomagnetic field variation, we have shown that the calculation of the electric field variation from the geomagnetic variation can be performed in the time domain using the convolution integration. According to the calculation of GIC from the electric field variation, we showed that the calculation using the power line model agrees with the tendency of the measured GIC.
In this report, we will show the comparison of the multi-point geomagnetic variation data obtained by the simulation and the observation. We also report a method for calculating the electric field variation in the time domain using an underground conductivity model and the geomagnetic variation data obtained by the simulation.
