[PEM11-18] High-dispersion spectroscopy in the near to the thermal infrared region for exoplanet characterization

High-dispersion spectroscopy in the near to the thermal infrared (about 1 ~ 5 um) is an important tool for characterization of exoplanet atmosphere by resolving absorption or emission lines produced by atoms and molecules in their atmosphere. I will present a future instrument plan of such spectroscopy. This will include the HISPEC instrument for the Keck telescope, which will also become a first-generation instrument MODHIS for the TMT, covering Y to K-band with a spectral resolution better than 100,000. In addition, I will discuss a plan of a thermal infrared high-resolution spectrometer for the Subaru telescope, covering mainly the L-band. This will be a great complement to the Ariel mission, a space-based transit spectroscopy, which is scheduled to be launched around 2030.
