[PEM12-23] Measurement of Changes in Upper Atmosphere Density using Satellite Temperature Sensor
Keywords:Upper Atmosphere Density, Satellite, Temperature Sensor
A bumper was attached to the proceeding direction of this satellite, and the bumper was covered with multi-layer insulation (MLI). A temperature sensor was attached to the thermal control film, which was the outermost layer of the MLI.
In this presentation, free molecular heating by the upper atmosphere is reported. The temperature of the bumper portion is affected by the direct sunlight, the earth's albedo, and the earth's infrared rays. The effect was evaluated using the amount of power generated by the satellite-mounted solar cell and thermal analysis, and the temperature rise due to free molecular heating was extracted.
In this presentation, atmospheric density changes on the orbit of SLATS at an altitude of less than 220 km where the free molecular heating component was observed by the temperature sensor will be reported. In addition, changes in atmospheric density and magnetic disturbance estimated from temperature sensors will be reported.
