[PEM15-04] Summary of EISCAT observations during the VortEx campagin

Keywords:Gravity wave, Tide, EISCAT, Lower Thermosphere

The Vorticity Experiment (VortEx) will be conducted from 17 to 25 March 2023 in northern Scadinavia. The campaign is designed to study mesoscale structures in the wind field in the lower thermosphere (90-130 km) (see Lehmacher talk). The EISCAT UHF radar has a capability to derive the wind velocities between 90 and 120 km. We have gathered 130 hours of EISCAT Spcial experiment (SP) time from Japan, UK, Sweden, Norway, Germany and PP (EISCAT). We will make observations during the campaign for 12 hrs every night from 17 to 25 March; we utilize scanning modes (so-called CP-2 type) which provide data for derivation of netual wind velocities in the lower thermosphere. We will give summary of the EISCAT observations and show results of derived neutral winds during the campaign.
