[SCG50-P05] Microstructures and crystallographic preferred orientations of quartz in granitic mylonites in Hida metamorphic belt

Hida metamorphic belt is a geotectonic unit located in the northernmost part of the Chubu District and is a fragment of continental blocks formed during Paleozoic to Mesozoic eras. The northeastern and southwestern parts of Hida metamorphic belt consist of mylonitized granite and metamorphic rocks, which were considered to be ductile shear zones in the early Mesozoic. The granitic mylonite in these shear zones underwent ductile deformation in the middle continental crust. Therefore, the analysis of the microstructures will provide information on the deformation mechanisms at mid-crustal conditions and the deformation history of the ductile shear zones. However, there are few previous studies on the microstructural development of mylonite in Hida metamorphic belt. In this study, the microstructures and crystallographic preferred orientations of quartz were analyzed using EBSD method for granitic mylonites collected in Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, located in the southwestern Hida metamorphic belt, and the deformation mechanisms and physical conditions in the shear zones will be discussed.
