[SSS13-01] Investigation of Records of Historical Earthquakes at Kochi Prefecture
Keywords:Historical Earthquake , Kochi Prefecture, 1707 Hoei Earthquake, 1791 Okinawa tsunami, 1854 Ansei Nankai Earthquake
In this study, we focus on records of historical earthquakes and tsunami in Kochi Prefecture. The subjects are shown in Fig. 1. In particular, we introduce the descriptions of historical calendars (1707-1708) in the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. The records are not included in the materials. The records were written by Tosa scholar Tani Jinzan (1663-1718). In his own handwritten calendars, in addition to astronomical and meteorological descriptions, there are descriptions of the main shock and subsequent aftershocks of the 1707 Hoei earthquake.
The location where he felt and recorded earthquakes is thought to have been Present Tosa-Yamada, Kami City, where Tani Jinzan was under house arrest at the time. Some of the earthquake dates correspond to those in the "Miyaji Diary", which is included in "Enlarged and revised edition of historical documents on earthquakes in great Japanthe Revised History of Earthquakes in Japan" by Kinkichi Musha (Table 1).
We also investigate records of present Tosa City, Kanan city on the1854 Ansei Nankai Earthquake and Aki city on the 1791 Okinawa tsunami.
