[SVC31-P17] Study of variation factors for active volcanos in Japan using DInSAR results

*Isao kageyama, Shinobu Ando1 (1.Meteorological Research Institute)

Keywords:active volcano, In-SAR, ALOS-2

We have reported In-SAR analysis results of 91 active volcanos in Japan comprehensively (eg. Kageyama et al., 2018, Taniguchi et al., 2019). However, detailed discussion of variation factors and deformation of observed at each volcano was insufficient. We read Differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) images which were analyzed by JMA using ALOS-2 data from 2014 to 2018 again, and attempted to estimate common factors at each volcano.
In this report, we used images which are reported the 138th -143rd of Coordinating Committee for Prediction of Volcanic Eruption, JPGU2018 and JPGU2019. These images were analyzed using RINC (Ozawa et al., 2016) and not estimated of atmospheric and ionospheric delay. We assumed the analysis precision is few centimeters which is generally accepted, and estimated variation area and maximum displacement of each analysis result. The rate of variation was also calculated for each result which were detected deformations assuming that the rate continued in constant since the pair periods of observation data was various.
Variation area, displacement and its rate are about 0.1-26.2km2, 2-11cm and 1-156cm/year at line-of-sight (LOS) length shortened volcanoes, Meakandake volcano, Azumayama volcano, Yakedake volcano, Ebino-kogen volcano. Although there are no clear correlations between these values and the dispersion was large, the velocities of eruptive volcanos were over 100cm/year (eg, Ebino-kogen volcano in 2018). On the other hand, not erupted volcanoes of it are within several tens centimeter per year.
For LOS extended volcanoes, Usu volcano, Ontake volcano, Hakoneyama volcano, Unzen volcano, these were about 0.1-11.1km2, 4-30cm and 1-68cm/year. There are correlations among the variation area and displacement, its rate. There might be common factors each volcano for extending LOS length.
