Biominerals have been used as indicators for biological classification and for estimating geological ages in the earth sciences. Recently, utilizing their aesthetic appeal and remarkable properties, innovative research has been conducted across various fields, including engineering, medicine, dentistry, agriculture, and fisheries. Simultaneously, biominerals have historically played a significant role in the field of art, serving as decorative items, ceremonial artifacts, and art supplies. Given that art and science have historically developed by interplay, incorporating the perspective, thinking, and expression of art into science will be beneficial for the further advancement of science and technology. In this session, we provide Art-thinking platform for dialogue between researchers and artists using biomineralization as a model case. We aim to explore opportunities for innovation by incorporating Art-thinking through dialogues on the topic of "Why do organisms create biominerals?" with experts in biomineralization, artists and designers specializing in the intersection of science and art, and citizens who provide an overarching perspective.
