T-PARCII, a research group at Nagoya University, uses aircraft to conduct observation of typhoons using observation equipment called Dropsonde. The dropsonde calculates the speed of the drop sonde as wind speed based on its GPS signal, and does not measure the actual wind speed itself. This study investigates the difference between the speed of the dropsonde and the actual wind speed by considering aerodynamics of falling dropsonde.
