[AHW18-P09] Modeling multiple contaminants transport in subsurface by using MUSt softwre

Development of analytical solute transport models are essential and widely used to simulate the degradable contaminants such as chlorinated solvents, pesticides, and radionuclides transport at contaminated sites. Moreover, the detected concentration of contaminants at different depth may change with time due to natural attenuation or remediation. Thus, it is important that the models can simulate for multiple contaminants with the time-varying source concentration. This study use the developed software MUSt which based on a newly analytical solution with time-dependent inlet source boundary conditions for simulating chlorinated solvents transport. Moreover, the MUSt can define the different shape of the source in the subsurface. This study will apply the MUSt to simulate two cases. The first case is to investigate the effect of different source functions for simulating radionuclides. The second case is to apply MUSt to do the model calibration at a real site according to the field data of chlorinated solvents. The visualization of MUSt can also be used to assess the plume migration and health risk at sites.
