[AOS12-P04] Morphology approach to marine heatwaves around Indonesian Seas
キーワード:Marine Heatwaves, Ocean Temperature Variability, Event-wise Approach, Indonesian Seas
Climate change is having a significant impact on our ecosystems, including the oceans. One critical aspect that requires attention is the occurrence of marine heatwaves (MHW). This research focuses on MHW around Indonesian seas, using the event-wise approach to identify and categorize MHW events from 1982 to 2021. Our analysis shows a significant increase in MHW-event frequency. In addition, we also observed an increase in the duration and extent of MHW coverage in certain years, that may be related to climate variability. This research also offers new insights into the temporal and spatial patterns of MHW that may help to elucidate the mechanisms underlying MHW events. A deepened understanding of MHW mechanisms will be important for developing effective adaptation and mitigation strategies to address climate change and maintain the health of marine ecosystems.
