[G04-P04] A Longitudinal Study Of Students’ Learning Interest, Learning Motivation, And Ocean Literacy- High School Students In Taiwan
Keywords:Ocean Literacy, Marine Education, learning interest, learning motivation, cross-lagged model
This study mainly investigated the trends and correlations between Ocean Literacy (OL), Marine Science Learning Interest (MSLI), and Marine Science Learning Motivation (MSLM) among high school students in Taiwan. A three-wave longitudinal study was conducted using an OL scale to assess MSLI and MSLM of high school students in Taiwan. The total of responses are 428 valid responses were collected. After analyze, the results indicated that the students’ OL decreased during the second survey wave, but increased slightly during the third survey wave. The MSLM exhibited an increasing trend, whereas their MSLI did not change significantly. The cross-lagged analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between OL and MSLM in all three waves. In these three waves, significant positive correlations were noted between OL and MSLI and between previous OL and subsequent MSLI. Therefore, OL significantly influenced the development of MSLI. Our study clarifies the relationship between OL and MSLI and offers suggestions for future OL education and research.
