Our team at JAEA has been operated the Radionuclide station Takasaki (RN38) as a part of the International Monitoring System (IMS) for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). RN38 has two monitoring system, one is for radioactive particles and the other is for noble gases. The noble gas monitoring system, JPX38 (SAUNA-II), was installed at RN38 in December 2006, after North Korea's first nuclear test. JPX38 was upgraded to the latest SAUNA system (SAUNA-III) with improved performance including temporal resolution, in May 2023. Our team is working with CTBTO, and the developer of SAUNA system have been cooperating to conduct the process for revalidation of JPX38 from June 2023 to the present. We report on the installation and trial run of SAUNA-III.
