Keywords:River suspended sediment delivery, NDVI, Tsengwen River

In this study, we try to build the relationship between catchment scale suspended sediment delivery and NDVI of the Tsengwen River, southwestern Taiwan. The suspended sediment delivery is collected and processed by the Water Resource Agency, MOA of Taiwan by using daily river discharge and monthly suspended sediment concentrations. We first construct the annual rating curve equation of the daily river discharge and monthly suspended sediment concentrations, then use this equation to obtain daily suspended sediment from the daily river discharge data. By the way, the river sediment delivery could be obtained from the daily river discharge data. Then we try to obtain the catchment scale NDVI data from the seasonal Landsat images. Each of the 30 m raster cells could have the NDVI value, and then the average catchment scale NDVI value could also be calculated to build the average for the construction of the relationship of river suspended sediment delivery and NDVI of the Tsengwen River basin. The results show that the two have mid negative correlation. It implies that catchment vegetation cover could affect the suspended sediment output.
