Using the TerM land active layer model, numerical experiments were performed for the territory of the South of Western Siberia using surface data and soil characteristics including wetlands. Necessary parameterizations of methane emission and groundwater level were inserted into the TerM model. At the same time, the data on the surface distribution of wetlands were harmonized with the soil database used in the experiments. It was shown that methane fluxes are significant from wetlands but depend on the subgrid surface heterogeneity of each wetlands. The heat balance components are significantly different from those for other landuse types
