[MTT38-03] Early Tsunami Detection Method by Inversion Analysis Using Tsunami-generated Infrasound Waves: Potential for Deployment of Observation Stations in Island Regions of Tokyo.
Keywords:Tsunami source estimation, tsunami, micro-pressure waves, infrasound, inversion, early tsunami detection
We have implemented a large-scale numerical simulation of propagation considering wave source and atmospheric models, and proposed a time-domain numerical method to numerically reproduce the propagation of infrasound caused by tsunamis, and demonstrated its effectiveness of this method.
Furthermore, we proposed a method to estimate the tsunami source by inversion using the developed numerical simulation model of infrasound phenomenon.
In this study, as a social implementation of the framework of the tsunami source estimation method and the early tsunami detection method, we improve the robustness of the inversion method and investigate the early tsunami detection method by deploying observation stations in the island areas of Tokyo.
The wave sources of infrasound might be highly related to those of tsunamis. In other words, finding the wave sources of infrasound waves would be the same as finding the source of a tsunami wave. We expect that the tsunami source estimation using the proposed inversion method is promising as an early tsunami detection method.
