[MZZ43-P03] Wind Tunnel Experience for Evaluating of snow accretion and icing on wind vane and cup anemometer
Keywords:Icing, anemometer, Wind Tunnel Experience
It is necessary to observe wind for wind farm in advance using wind masts. However, in cold region, there were missing data due to icing and snow accumulation on instruments. We need to clarify the causes of icing and snow accumulation. Therefore, we evaluated the conditions on occurrence missing data using wind masts data in winter season. Moreover, the conditions were reproduced in wind tunnel for evaluating vane and anemometer snow acculation and icing.
The temperature in stop instruments occurred -5 to 0 degree. The wind speed in stop instruments occurred weak speed(0 to 2 m/s) and strong speed ( more than 8 m/s) conditions. In results on wind tunnel experience, snow accumulation occurred at -5 degree, however in 0 degree no accumulation on instruments. The experience using supercooled water was accumulated ice on cups of anemometer. When increasing with ice on cups (Figure), the measured wind speed continued with slow down compared with actual wind speed setting on wind tunnel. Moreover, The countermeasure of icing on cup anemometer using heater was limited.
