[O01-01] Sun-Earth Connection: Aurora and Space Weather

★Invited Papers

*Yoshizumi Miyoshi1 (1.Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University)

Keywords:Space Weather, Aurora, Geospace

An aurora is a phenomenon that occurs when charged particles, known as solar wind, coming from the sun, collide with the Earth's upper atmosphere. The dynamical variations in auroras result from the coupling between the sun and Earth, so the aurora is a symbol of variations of the space environment, i.e., space weather. In this lecture, we will introduce auroras and the connection between the sun and Earth.
