Keywords:United Nations Decade of Ocean Science, Ocean literacy, Social contribution

The "United Nations Decade of Ocean Science" is expected to be promoted from 2023 to 2030 to accelerate the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal No.14 "Life below the water". One of the goals is to return ocean science to society. For example, disseminating knowledge of ocean science to the general public is an essential activity to improve ocean literacy among them. There are various approaches to increasing ocean literacy, such as ocean knowledge acquisition, human resource development, education, and promotion of science that involve the public, that can be used to disseminate ocean science to the general public in various ways. The presentation will introduce the approaches being taken by the presenters to disseminate ocean science knowledge to society, including holding symposiums, creating an encyclopedia associated with the seven social outcomes (Clean ocean, Healthy &resilient ocean, Productie ocean, Predicted ocean, Save ocean, Accessible ocean, Inspiring&engaging ocean), and creating an introductory casebook on the various initiatives being promoted primarily by the Japanese government in efforts to contribute to the promotion of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science.
