[O08-P03] Study of the Shape of the Embankment that Best Reduces Wave Momentum

*Yurine Ozawa1 (1.Yokohama Science Frontier High School)

Keywords:Embankment, Wave, disaster prevention

In Japan, there are measures against high waves, such as the building of sea embankments, but too high embankments have problems such as spoiling the landscape, so I thought we needed to reduce the wave momentum in some way other than height, and I focused on the shape. The purpose of my study is to find out which shapes of embankment suppress wave momentum more and to find out something in common with those shapes. I experimented with a model and measured "wave height," "degree of water rise," and "water movement". As a result, it was found that shapes with an "inverted trapezoid" at the top have a smaller degree of water rise and the waves are difficult to spread to the right.
