We investigated the runoff of red soil, fertilizer, and sunscreen into the sea, which are considered sources of marine pollution on Yoron Island, and the effects of settling and seepage ponds. Our results revealed leakage of red soil and fertilizer, but no elution of sunscreen was found. Our results also suggested the certain effectiveness of settling and seepage ponds to avoid the runoff of them although they cannot completely prevent red soil runoff.
