[SGD01-06] Establishment of an open data development environment in the field of geodesy
Keywords:GGOS, Open Data
In the field of geodesy, discussions on long-term data utilization, storage, management and sharing as a social infrastructure and development of data repositories are actively conducted. Within the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) established under the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), discussions are progressing at working group on DOIs, and advices were given to international products. In addition, several reports have been made, and international geodetic observation organizations are proceeding with studies on data storage methods and DOI assignment mechanisms. For example, the IAG's working group of the Inter-commission Committee on Marine Geodesy (ICCM) is working on an attempt to create a new data format for submarine geodesy.
Based on a proposal from the GGOS Japan Data DOI Subcommittee, a GGOS Affiliate in Japan, the Geodetic Society Journal Editorial Committee begun to accept applications for a special issue of data papers using J-STAGE data starting in December 2023. In addition, we started construction of a geodesy data portal in July 2023 with the aim of aggregating data in the field of geodesy and assigning DOIs. In this presentation, we will report on recent activities related to open data in the field of geodesy.
