We have extended the pressure range of the GHz-DAC ultrasonics beyond 30 GPa. We selected ferropericlase (Mg, Fe)O as the first lower mantle mineral to measure P and S wave velocities at the lower mantle condition; ferropericlase is the second most abundant mineral in the lower mantle and is known to undergo the spin transition in the pressure range of 40-60 GPa. Currently, we have succeeded the simultaneous P and S wave measurement at 33 GPa; we would like to show further results at the presentation.
