In mid-latitude regions, the ocean and atmosphere engage in a dynamic exchange that is shaped by both internal and external forcings. In recent years, there has been a notable increase in interest surrounding the role of mid-latitude atmosphere-ocean interactions within the climate system. This has been accompanied by significant advancements in observational techniques and modelling approaches, which have collectively enhanced our comprehension of these interactions. Additionally, there is a growing interest in the effects of atmospheric and oceanic variability on ocean biogeochemical processes and ecosystems. The objective of this session is to present and discuss research results on atmospheric and oceanic phenomena over a wide range of spatiotemporal scales, from mesoscale to basin scale, from daily and seasonal variations to long-term variations such as multi-decadal warming. The aim is to further our understanding of the mid-latitude atmosphere-ocean interaction system. The presentations in this session are not necessarily limited to atmosphere-ocean interactions; they are also open to research on oceanic and atmospheric phenomena and changes, as well as presentations from various perspectives, such as chemistry and ecosystems.
