In this session, we aim to bring together researchers who work across the many disciplines related to seismic and its secondary hazards. Broadly we encourage submissions from researchers working on topics aiming to advance society's preparedness for natural disasters. Multi-disciplinary modelling techniques are especially encouraged. We invite presentations on all aspects of hazard modelling, including such topics as earthquakes forecasting at short- and long-term time frames, fault modelling of complex ruptures, multi-cycle simulators and dynamic rupture modelling, ground motion simulation, non-ergodic ground motion models, site effects including non-linear motions, exposure modelling, and physical vulnerability.
We also encourage submissions involving the research and user community adjacent to seismic hazard modelling. We envision topics such as the development of community models and databases, tsunami, liquefaction, landslide and multi-hazard/risk modelling, dynamic risk modelling that simulates the entire chain from earthquake occurrence through digital twins. Finally, presentations related to the built environment, building codes, hazard mitigation plan, and hazard/risk communication are encouraged.
In this session, our goal is to bring together a multi-disciplinary community who are working on related problems in natural hazard so that we can discuss our varied approaches and, e.g., learn how different communities have responded to recent events and understand how we can work together to improve our modelling capabilities for future events.
