[S-EM16] Geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, and rock magnetism

Sun. May 25, 2025 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM 302 (International Conference Hall, Makuhari Messe)

convener:Noriko Kawamura(Japan Coast Guard Academy), Chie Kato(Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies, Kyushu University), Chairperson:Hyeon-Seon Ahn(Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources), Noriko Kawamura(Japan Coast Guard Academy)

We will discuss magnetism associated with minerals, the Earth, and beyond. This session will mainly cover the following topics: (1) the magnetic fields of the Earth and other planets, (2) paleomagnetic field variations, (3) numerical and laboratory studies of magnetic field generation, (4) magnetic properties of rocks, minerals, and other materials, (5) surface magnetic anomalies of the Earth and extraterrestrial bodies, and (6) tectonics and paleoclimate reconstructions based on magnetic measurements. We also welcome (7) related developments in measurement methods and data analysis. We encourage contributions that stimulate interdisciplinary collaborations toward establishing the SEDI-Japan community. English slides and presentations will be recommended.
