[ACG47-P01] Numerical study of spontaneous gravity wave radiation in the Venus atmosphere (II)
Keywords:Venus atmosphere, Super rotation, General circulation model, Spontaneous gravity wave radiation
Fast zonal winds called super-rotation in the Venus atmosphere are one of the most difficult problems in the planetary sciences, because solid parts of Venus rotate very slowly. So far, we have carried out high-resolution numerical experiments using AFES-Venus, a Venus version of the Earth's atmospheric general circulation model AFES, which was optimized for the Earth Simulator, and have succeeded in reproducing and maintaining a realistic super-rotation. We have also developped a data assimilation system for the Venus atmosphere. In this presentation, we will report further results of an investigation into the excitation mechanism of small-scale gravity waves obtained using the AFES-Venus numerical experiment with the world's highest resolution.
