[AOS14-04] Research on artificial gravity facilities as a basis for life on low gravity celestial bodies such as the Moon and Mars

*TAKUYA ONO1 (1.Kajima corporation)

Keywords:space habitat, centrifugal force, artificial gravity, Accounting for Generations

The theme of this session is to “possibility and its scale in creating "artificial ocean" into different planetary environment. ”and as a prerequisite, we will propose an artificial gravity facility as a living space. Currently, space medicine is concerned about the progression of osteoporosis due to calcium elution and the effects on the optic nerve and brain atrophy due to fluid shifts caused by the effects of low gravity. In other words, it is highly likely that long-term stays in low gravity, such as on the Moon, will not be possible. Therefore, we are conducting a joint research with Kyoto University to see if artificial gravity using centrifugal force can be a useful alternative to gravity. We propose a design concept for an artificial gravity facility.
