[G01-P03] Earth Science for All: Life-Long Geo-Education Initiative by Japan Society of Earth Science Education

*Akihiko Tomita1 (1.Wakayama University)

Keywords:Earth Science Education, Geo-Educational Magazine / Earth Science for All, Earth Science as Lifelong Learning, Japan Society of Earth Science Education

The Japan Society of Earth Science Education publishes "Geo-Educational Magazine" meaning Earth Science for All, in parallel with the traditional peer-reviewed research journal "Earth Science Education," to develop Earth science education and outreach more widely and enjoyably. The subtitle of the journal is "Earth Science as Lifelong Learning." The Japan Society of Earth Science Education believes that Earth science education is a responsibility that carries as much weight as the Earth and that we need to bring the fun and enjoyment of Earth science to as many people as possible. It has been published once a year starting in the fiscal year of 2020, with the sixth issue scheduled for publication in the fiscal year of 2025. One year after publication, articles on the practices are published with open access on J-Stage, currently up to Issue 4. The themes of Issues 1 to 6 are "Geoscience and Kids' Dream," "Animation, Manga and Earth Science," "Collection of Funny Ideas for Geoscience Education," "Earth Science 'Chigaku' in High School," "Earth Science Olympiad," and "Geoparks." With the help of many people involved in Earth science education, the society hopes to collaboratively achieve the goal that weighs as much as the Earth.
