[G04-07] Astrophysics and geology research activities using radiation detectors by junior high and high school students
Keywords:Junior high and high school, Research activities
Accel Kitchen LLC is an outreach group that supports junior high and high school students involved in research activities about astrophysics and particle physics.
We provide cosmic ray and radiation detectors that are accessible even to students and facilitate their research activities across various fields based on their interests. These students are supported online by mentors who are university or graduate students.
The detectors provided mainly consist of a combination of scintillators and silicon photomultipliers (SiPM).
Students can select or assemble different types of scintillators depending on the type of radiation they wish to study.
This allows them to explore a wide range of topics, from space science such as cosmic ray muon observation and solar activity, to geoscience topics such as gamma-ray measurements for rock analysis.
In this presentation, we will introduce examples of our activities, including projects focused on solar activity and seafloor mineral deposits.
