[HCG22-06] Discussion on the CTBT International Monitoring System for scientific applications

Dirk Metz1, Satoru Endo2, *Hiroyuki Matsumoto3, Takayuki Otsu4, Akiko FURUNO5, Yasuhito Igarashi6 (1.Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, 2.Hiroshima University, 3.Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, 4.Japan Weather Association, 5.Japan Atomic Energy Agency, 6.Kyoto University)

Following all oral presentations, the conveners will lead a discussion on scientific and technological aspects regarding the CTBT International Monitoring System. We welcome multi-disciplinary topics to deepen the understanding of the Earth as well as suggestions to improve performance and sustainability of the IMS network, especially from scientists and engineers who are involved in one of the four IMS technologies: Seismic, hydroacoustic, infrasound, and radionuclide monitoring. We also discuss research related to more accurate estimation of the deposition area of radioactive fallout in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
