[HGG02-P03] How should we think about the integration of fieldwork and remote sensing?

*Koki Teshirogi1 (1.Kanazawa University)

Keywords:Fieldwork, Africa, Natural resource use

In recent years, remote sensing techniques for regional analysis have rapidly advanced, utilizing various tools such as UAVs, satellite imagery, and even smartphones. With the increasing efficiency of data collection through methods like AI-based classification, one may question whether the necessity of conducting fieldwork on-site has diminished. This presentation aims to reconsider the significance of fieldwork by introducing case studies of fieldwork and remote sensing integration in both domestic and international contexts.
