[HSC06-P08] Simulation and Risk Assessment of CO2 Storage in Subsurface Environments using THMC software
キーワード:carbon dioxide storage, THMC, CO2 migration, risk assessment
The storage of carbon dioxide in subsurface environments has recently become a major concern for many countries. The injection of CO2 into the subsurface alters the multiple fluid phases, complicating the evaluation of fluid saturation. When assessing carbon dioxide storage sites, it is essential to evaluate factors such as storage capacity, well pressure, CO2 plume migration, and the potential risks of leakage from storage reservoirs. This study utilizes THMC (Thermal-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical) software to analyze scenarios related to carbon dioxide storage. This study will further conduct a sensitivity analysis of key parameters, including the impact of different densities of CO2 fluid and varying permeability of geological formations on CO2 migration. In addition, the study will explore the differences in injection effectiveness under different injection pressures. The study will also examine the risk assessment of CO2 leakage after injection into underground environments through fault and fracture scenario assumptions. The results from these simulations will provide valuable insights for future applications in real-world sites.
