[MGI31-P10] Towards the Detection and Monitoring of Hyper-Local Weather Phenomena in Chikuma City
キーワード:Internet of Things, Hyper-local Weather Detection
As the global climate changes drastically over the coming decades, the likelihood of extreme weather phenomena also increases. This can negatively impact places that have historically not experienced these phenomena at such magnitudes. For instance, a riverside village that had no prior records of severe flooding can suddenly experience them due to heavier than usual rainfall upstream. As such, information systems for the detection and monitoring of such phenomena are crucial to ensuring adequate preparation on the part of local governments and the general public. This paper presents the progress of a Hyper-Local Weather Detection System using statistical analysis on high-resolution data from 11 weather sensors deployed within a 15 km radius inside Chikuma City, Nagano, Japan. The end goal is to be able to perform highly-localized weather monitoring and prediction that are highly-accurate to the unique characteristics of the local area.
