SUMMARY.
According to the Mongolian vegetation survey, the Baganuur coal mine license area is located in grassland vegetation type with Lyme- grass Feather grass, Peashrub and small bunch grass typology. And at the northwest end of the field, it heads into area with the main characteristics of Bit grass-Sedge-Forb.
Our field research shows that the vegetation of Baganuur district is dominated by Feather grass community, with Grass, Grass-Forbs, Forbs-Grass, Sedge-Forbs communities coexisting along the surface and watershed.
During the research, vegetation cover records were made around the mine, identifying the characteristics of the area, such as longitude, latitude, and elevation, and 16 points were represented as images on Google Earth. In 2024, a total of 73 species of 59 genus of 23 family were recorded. Among them: Gramineae Juss, Compositae Giseke, Chenopodiaceae Vent, Chenopodiaceae Vent, and Rosaceae Juss occupy the main place.
The main grassland plants of the species Agropyron repens (L.) P.B., Stipa sibirica (L) Lam, Stipa krylovii Roshev, Agropyron cristatum (L.) P.B., and Cleistogenes squarrosa (Trin.) Keng were predominant, while plants such as Achnatherum splendens (Trin), Poa pratensis L and Koeleria macrantha (Ldb) were few. Also, the occurrence of plants such as Artemisia frigida Willd, Artemisia macrocephala Jacquem, and two other species Artemisia dracunculus L, Artemisia adamsii Bess, Chenopodium album L., and Corisperum mongolicum IIjin is increasing in degraded areas.
