Atmospheric rivers (ARs) are significant meteorological phenomena that transport large amounts of moisture over long distances, greatly influencing rainfall patterns. In northeastern Japan, particularly along the western coast, the interaction of prevailing westerlies and complex topography makes the region highly susceptible to heavy rainfall during AR events, especially in summer. This study focuses on analyzing AR-induced heavy rainfall during the summer months, with the goal of identifying the values of key AR features, such as integrated water vapor transport, that contribute to intense rainfall in the region. By examining a range of established datasets, the research will uncover the thresholds and patterns of these features associated with heavy rainfall. The findings will enhance the understanding of AR-induced rainfall and provide valuable insights to improve weather forecasting, advance climate studies, optimize water resource management, and strengthen disaster preparedness efforts in the region.
