This poster session will focus on printed materials using ink made from foraged materials introduced in “Foraged Colors - Reconnecting Colors to Life” to be presented in “O-02 Synergy of Earth Science and Art”.


What is "Foraged Colors"?

About Us
Based in Oe-town in central Yamagata Pref., YOSHIKATSU is engaged in four basic activities: Procuring materials, Figuring out how to make things, Prototyping, and Implementation and manufacturing with "Foraging, Design, and Super-special printing" as its main areas of activity.
YOSHIKATSU's creations, which incorporate fieldwork and prototyping methods, range from printed materials to artwork, furniture design, web design, branding and concept-making, and workshop program development.

Exhibition Contents
1. Colors found on the sandy beach
... color chips inked with items found on the beach by children and adults who participated in the educational program
Pigments: Shells, Burnt driftwood, Chrysanthemum nipponicum, Windbreak pine bark, Sand, etc.

2. (Wet green)-gray found on the seabed
... Printed with ink made from seabed mud (mud sample #KR21-11)
Pigment: Seabed mud (Suruga Bay)

3. calling coals/coal's calling
... Artwork using coal ink
Pigment: Sea coal
